How To Set Up A Facebook Ad

This doc details how to create a Facebook ad for your Business Page. If you haven’t set up a page, then see our doc on Setting Up a Facebook Business Page

  • Navigate to facebook.com/ads/manager
  • Login using your personal account information
  • Determine your goal
    • Website traffic – Send more people to your website
    • Engagement – Get more post engagement
    • App Installs – Get people to download your app
    • Video Views – Get more people to view your video content
    • Lead Generation – Get leads through a contact form in the ad
    • Conversions – Get people to take a particular action on your website
    • Product catalog sales – Create an ad that automatically shows products from your catalog (must create a catalog first)
    • Store Visits – Increase foot traffic to your store
    • Brand Awareness – Increase awareness of your brand
    • Local Awareness – Increase awareness of your business to people in your location
    • Reach – Show your ad to as many people as possible
  • Click your goal and then click Create Account
  • Fill out the information
    • Account Country
    • Currency
    • Time Zone
  • Click Continue
  • Input information about Audience and Budget & Schedule
    • Location: Target by specific locations
    • Age: Choose the age range you want to target
    • Gender: Choose the Gender you want to target
    • Langauge: Enter a language you want to target
    • Detailed Targeting: Narrow audience even further
      • Demographics
      • Interests
      • Behaviors
      • Facebook Categories
  • Choose Automatic Placements
  • Choose Budget Type
    • Daily Budget: The amount you wish to spend each day
    • Lifetime Budget: The total amount you wish to spend
  • If you have a schedule, click Set a start and end date
    • Set you ad schedule
  • For Optimization for Ad Delivery choose the option for how you want your ad to be delivered
    • It’s highly suggested you go with the recommended delivery option
  • When you have finished, click continue
  • Under Format, choose the graphic type
    • Carousel
    • Single Image
    • Single Video
    • Slideshow
    • Canvas
  • Under Media, click Upload Images
  • Upload ad image.
  • Under Pages and Links, do the following:
    • Make sure correct Facebook page is selected
    • Make sure correct Instagram account is selected
    • In the Website URL box, type the URL that the ad will link to
    • Write the headline
    • Write the text
    • Choose a call to action button
    • Click Advanced Options and type news feed link description
  • If there are no specific conversions to track, select Do not track conversions under Pixel Tracking

  • Click Place Order
